Without Challenges, I'm not ME

Florence showed me a different side of her this week.  The incredibly BUSY side.  I have been running around like mad for about 2 weeks without internet.  I was setting up camp at my cara amica, Manon's house with her adorable baby boy, Romeo.  I can't say it enough, what would I do without friends?

I have been working a good set of hours at my new place of business, London School.  I enjoy each of my classes and they each give me something to spread throughout my day.  You learn something new every day, I always say.  I sure learned something new each day I was without internet.  I learned that the internet shouldn't run my life.  This was so hard for me to accept.  It was like a junkie without it's stash, I was getting very anxious without being able to check my email.  Instead of freaking out, I took a deep breath and started REALLY living.

I have been staying with my fellow pisces caro amico, Pasquale a lot.  I am learning how to live simply and happily with his help.

I know that the internet serves a purpose but it cannot run my life.

I had a crash course in how to open a proper bank account.  I was nervous to do so, but I have all the papers.  I am almost a resident of Florence and I have the ability (finally) to explain myself (by myself) what I want in Italian.   Happy day for me!  I was surprised on how all the stereotypes I heard weren't completely true.  Yes bank accounts COST money in Italy (which I knew) but the process was rather simple.  I guess when you imagine becoming part of a community or culture you see if from the outside and see all the struggles to get to that point, but once you are there, it is a piece of cake.  One, because you aren't thinking about it as a struggle, it is something you need and deserve as a EU citizen or soon to be resident.  Two, you are self-sufficient, hard-working woman who can finally communicate successfully in Italian.  Three, Katie has struggled long enough to get her butt in Florence permanently.  So things are moving so incredibly smooth.

I also bought a chiavetta/internet key/ usb internet card (however you want to call it).  I was desperate obviously because I work onNile Guide and need to keep it posting on my blog as well.  That is a job that I hope someday soon, will grant me enough money to live almost independently on.

So that is all I got for an update for you guys.  Keep visiting Nile Guide Florence every chance you get, I am revamping constantly and adding new restaurants that have opened.  Also if you want to follow my tweets on Nile Guide Florence, I'm found here@NG_Florence.

a presto amici
