Vicchio and Pasquale

Saturday night Pasquale and I made plans for Sunday to travel to a small town named Vicchio.  I met him promptly in the sun outside the station around 1:30pm.  We had a minor disagreement with the automatic ticket machine, but in the end we got our tickets and we were off.  Up and around the hills north of Florence, we chugged past the small towns of Contea Londa, Dicomano and finally we arrived in Vicchio.  Storytelling all the way up to the center of Vicchio, he really peaked my interest even more.  Like when you know are about to get an incredible gift.  As we reached the center, the festivities were still be assembled and tents put up.  We decided to take a walk around the lake nearby before the festa began.  The day was just extraordinary.
The clouds in the crystal clear lake.
On our way to the center of Vicchio. Pasquale is strolling.
Gorgeous Bell Tower.
This shot reminds me of The Sound of Music.

Pasquale and I walked around the lake at our own pace, talking about life.  We swang on some swings that were along the way.  I felt like a kid again.  I soaked up the sun while he caught the ombra(shade).  I felt like I was floating all day on the energy that I seemed to have dropped along the way.  See, that is what Pasquale gives me.  He lends me a hand and brings me along the path of traquillity and hope that things are just as they should be.  Simply.  We had conversations that literally shifted my brain into thinking more simply.  We laughed A LOT.  The €1 glasses of wine helped.  He explained to me another side of how he sees life.

"Watch life go by like you are watching a film"

We tried this after drinking 2 glasses of wine.  We sat on a bench and people-watched.  My first mistake is that I started asking questions.  He said, 'No No Kate, you mustn't ask question and wonder why, just watch.'

Right after that, I found myself laughing histerically over an old woman picking up a laugh wooden table over her head.  The emotions and feelings I was having was something I really could only describe as utter happiness.    I was laughing so hard that I was crying.  Pasquale and I were laughing about things that were just happening.  Nothing fancy.  We weren't thinking, analyzing, guessing, wondering...we just experienced things in the moment.  It was amazing, how liberating it was. Laughing about simple things, nothing of real meaning, just life as it passed by our frame of view.

The day had many other activities involved.  When the celebration of the Festa Contadino(I'll explain tomorrow) began we were drawn to a little street where a group of singers were singing their hearts out.
After this song I was grabbed by one of the singers and we danced in this circle.  The whole time, Pasquale told me, the smile never left my face. "He could feel you were expressing that you wanted to dance." he replied about the man who grabbed my hand to dance.

I watched this little girl clap away as the music played. Simply precious!

I caught her with a soft smile of contentment.

I had such a powerful and mind-blowing day that it spilled over into today.  So I will write more tomorrow about Vicchio, so my happiness will once again spill over into another day.

a presto amici!!
