A Trip to Volterra

I was fortunate to visit a hill town that I have never been to.  On Sunday I traveled with a friend up and down the winding roads of Tuscany to the town of Volterra.  Now I have only heard great things of this place so I was excited to visit nonetheless. Volterra is known for its Teatro Romano, it's Etruscan artifacts and the most famous after all that is the local mining of alabaster.  Craftsmen create gorgeous statues and lamps with this material.  And I have just realized I did not capture a picture of these statues.  Here are the shots I did catch:

It was a quiet day in Volterra.

Teatro Romano from above.
Roman columns, the last of them still standing.

Sun trying to shine through.

Follow your path.  Where ever it may lead.

Me, happy that the path I have followed has brought me back to where my heart belongs!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!  More day trips to come, I hope!

a presto amici
