Feet on the Ground

Tomorrow I began another chapter in my life here in Italy.  I will start un lavoro fisso( a stable job).   I am ever so grateful for this opportunity and show off what a great teacher I am.  How I enjoy seeing students pick up the English language, it brings a smile to my face.    Makes me feel I have successfully done my job.

I have felt more and more comfortable here this time around, more than before.  These past two days I did what residents do, grocery shopped, went to the post office, ran errands during the store hours.  My Italian is still struggling( I cannot lie) but the more and more I speak and the more and more I ask people to repeat something I don't understand(annoying and stupid I may sound) I need it.  I have asked friends to give me books in Italian or which movies I should watch in Italian to assist me.  I think to all of you out there, I have never said I was a fluent speaker in Italian but only able to get by as much as possible.  Once I feel like I am a fluent speaker, I'm sure I will be bragging to you all.   hehe!  I think I have a right to!  Don't you?

I don't know about any of my fellow Pisces out there, but I feel a momentum building....Again!  I read my horoscope(thanks to Tina) that has told me that this is basically my Year of ALL Years!!  I am so happy every day I wake up.  Every day is a new adventure, a new endeavor, a new challenge and a new lesson in the Italian language.  Nothing makes me happier hearing the train fly by outside my window in my apartment.  I enjoy stepping out in the morning visiting my local market, saluting the Signora that I always chose my produce from.  I am ACTUALLY here!!!

But to bring myself back down to the reality of Italian bureaucracy, soon I will be applying for Residenza here in Florence. Residenza is so important to have.  Being that if I was traveling through the EU all I need now is my Carta d'Identita.  There are more challenges heading my way.  I love CHALLENGES!!!  I think you should all that by now.

More stories to tell and more lessons to learn.  I am far from being done.

a presto amici!

Love reading about your adventures! Valentino is from Itsly so we frequently visit family there -- I too am working at learning Italian - and I ask for repeats and definitions! My in laws get a kick out of my broken Italian though so they enjoy helping and laughing with me!
BTW - I am also a Pisces and looking very forward to this year! It better be as good as those stars are promising - I have lots of plans and projects -- and most involve Italy!

Hi Katie--It was so wonderful to see you and all of the family!! Glad you are back HOME and feeling good about it. Congratulations on your new nephew, too. He is amazing. I told your sister, that God sure does know what he's doing. He has replaced a wonderful son with another wonderful son. Love you very much and only the best of everything in your new challenges.

I am a pisces too, and I am definitely feeling a change a-comin'! Life is full of opportunities, but it's hard to know which ones to jump on. Today, I am just happy that the sun is shining and that I have a yummy lunch, lol
