Doors Opening

A month or so ago I was talking with my great friend here, Laura, about all the things we have overcome this past year.  Each of us have had a love lost, jobs come and go and many other things in common.  And to quote myself, when I finally realized my reason for being here, it was not what kept me yearning to come back this past year.  It has been a masterpiece in the making.

"When one door closes, 8 million f*cking windows open!"

Ho buttato la via, le cose, come la gente, che erano brutte e negative (I have thrown away things like people that were ugly and negative), I became to realize my purpose for following my heart to the place that had always held my heart so gentle and sweet.  That is what brought smiles and more smiles and then from smiles came more people with smiles, more people that had smiles, more positive energy arrived at my door, more positive energy brought more and more and more smiles and the feeling that I FINALLY know what I am meant to do here.  (At least for now ).

So getting back to my theme for this post: Doors Opening.  I had my first REAL interview in Italy this past week.  I traveled to Livorno excited, nervous and just plain happy something had come up that was un lavoro fisso(a stable job).  The interview was spoken in English since it is a language school.  I felt very comfortable in the setting and in the interview.  I usually never worry about an interview.  Since I believe that if you don't act like yourself, then what are you really trying to portray?  Someone that isn't you.  For this reason, I always act normal, I make jokes, I am always calm.

As the interview came to an end, she stressed that she wanted a second interview with me and the Director of the school.  I was ecstatic!!  Once I arrived home, I wrote a 'thank you' email for seeing me and how interested I was in the job.  Just about 30 minutes passed when she called me and said that the Director was free this Thursday to meet me.  This Thursday is what I have been waiting for.  She expressed over the phone that the Director might even what to sign you on right away, so be prepared.  WHAT!?!?  DAVVERO!!!?!?!

In conclusion, I had one door close, a BIG one, and if you have been reading my blog, there has been literally 8 million f*ing windows opening.  Since arriving, I have been obsessed with the doors around my neighborhood.  Capturing all different shapes and sizes of doors with my grand camera.  I have decided to make Thursday's the day where I post my favorite Door of the Week.  What this expresses is that any one of these doors may open and behind it something grand might be behind it or maybe not.  But just saying that there is many possibilities in this life for us to succeed, to try, to experience.  No point in walking through the same door every day, pick a prettier one or bigger one or one more simple.  Come vuoi? (How you like?)  This will remind me, and perhaps others, to try new things every day, every week or whenever you fancy it.

This will also remind us all, that life is short.  A bit of sad news from my family, my cousin Tim died on Friday evening from liver cancer.  He was a very healthy man all his life but a few months ago he didn't feel right.  He was only 45 years old and has 2 children Allison, 15, and Danny, 12.  Sadly, I haven't seen him in years.  Once our Boppa passed on in 2002, my Dad's Dad, our families followed different paths and thus the reason we never saw each other as much.  My heart and love goes out to my Aunt Terri and Uncle Gene who have to see a son pass on. As well as my cousin Kris, who is a strong soul to be by Tim's side til the end.  For his children, Allison and Danny, I can't even imagine what you must be feeling, family is everything really stay by each other's side in this time of mourning.

Tim, I'm glad you have our Muz and Boppa by your side now.

Live each day as if it was your last, my advice to you all.  Please pray for my family, too bad I won't be able to see my family at the funeral.

Here is the first Door, I shall see what is behind it....

The next door will arrive on Thursday.

what will you see behind it?

a presto amici!
