Hotter than a Bun in the Oven
These past couple weeks have been unbearable outside. I went from 60 degree weather is Chicago to waking up at 9am in Florence and it is already 90 degrees. I can't help but sit in my home all day long with a fan on me and the shutters, windows closed up. I do not, repeat, DO NOT miss this kind of weather in Florence. Last year it didn't seem as bad perhaps because my place was a lot cooler and low to the ground. I have been lucky though to have activities to accomplish.
On Monday I made Panzanella, all by myself. I was nervous to have my roommate try it since he is Florentine and could tell me it tastes like crap. But he enjoyed it and loved that it was waiting for him when he came home from work.

I am quite proud of myself.
Also when I went to my open air market stand, where there is a mother daughter team, after I made my selection of fruit and veggies the mother grabbed a handful of veggies and herbs and put them in my bag like a thank you.

I thought that was so thoughtful. I am only going to them from now on.
One other thing, I have another cat visiting my garden these days...

This cat is exactly like my cat Carson at home. Subtle differences, this one has no tail and his ears look a bit damaged.
I have not gotten to know this one yet, but he is for sure less jumpy and scared of me like Persey is.
2 more weeks of this heat then hopefully fall will set in and the breeze will keep me cool at night.
a presto amici
