Homemade Pasta with Nonna
Saturday was spent with my Nonna at her home making pasta from scratch. We made fettuccine from scratch. She of course started without me because she thought I was watching instead. Silly Nonna! I want to do it.
She started by mixing 6 eggs, 4 cups of flour and added cold water to make the well.
Then you kneed the dough with the heels of your hands until it is elastic and your finger makes an impression in the dough.
Let it rise for 30 minutes.

That is when Papa made us 2 highball cocktails for our hard work and asked why we didn't just buy Barilla.
We walked around in my Nonna's garden and enjoyed the warm summer weather on her patio.
Then we were ready to finish the hard and pleasant work of making pasta from scratch. It is so fun to make.

We must roll until paper thin, Nonna was saying.
Then we roll it up like so...

Then cut the fettuccine like so...

Then lay the pasta out on a table covered in flour so they don't stick together.
like so...

SMILE WE DID IT!
TONS OF PASTA FOR ALL.
"We should open up our own shop." Nonna said as we finished.
"Yes, you can be called the 'Noodle Ladies'" Papa replied chuckling.
MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm Pasta!

Hope to make Ravoli with my Nonna before I leave.
Thanks Nonna for a fun and exciting day! Love you!
a presto amici!

Katie,
"Silly Nonna! I want to do it"
I wandered over here from your comments at LookingGlassLane.com, read that quote, and thought, Yep, that's why we like her!
Keep getting your hands dirty. Awesome.
