Keep Moving Forward
A lot has happened since I changed my ticket. Some good news(finally) I passed my TEFL class! YIPPEE!! I received a certificate in the mail last week. Very nice how they did it. So I can use it for any other teaching job when the option comes upon me.
I was watching this animated movie today and it had the message of "Keep Moving Forward". I was intrigued by this movie, since it was rather funny. I watched this young orphan boy, Lewis, create all these inventions, build them from scratch. And each time he was creating the most perfect invention, something happened that made it either explode or malfunction. He felt like a failure. He moaned and whined that he was never going to create and build an invention again. Then came a friend from the future that knew his inventions were meaningful so to prove that he needed him, his friend, Wilbur, brought him back to his home to meet the family. Wilbur's father had a company that had a motto of "Keep Moving Forward". So when Lewis was fixing the time travel machine and having a hard time doing it, all Wilbur would repeat was:
Keep Moving Forward
Keep Moving Forward
Keep Moving Forward
Then came the time for Lewis to fix one of the families' inventions and once again it exploded in everyone's face. Lewis was prepared to here, 'nice work, you failed'. Instead to his surprise, they cheered him on.
All smiles! Applauding his work!
"That was a great failure! How did you do that? That is amazing work!"
Lewis was so confused he asked why are you all happy, I broke your invention.
"But you tried, and you failed. That is how you learn. You don't learn from winning all the time. You have more chances to make it the best invention ever when you fail."
Again intrigued by this notion of failure, I had a thought.
I have failed many times in my life (by my standards) why haven't I ever once celebrated those failures? All of my failures, detours, mishaps, delays have all lead me to this one point. There is no reason why there shouldn't have been a celebration when my passport did not arrive on time. Because the positive side is that it is coming, this delay has lead me to make more money to save for my life there. It has given me more time to focus on me. More time to play with my niece, Addy.
What failures, detours, delays, or mishaps have you experienced recently? Are you celebrating like me??
From a gorgeous singer Edith Piaf....
a presto amici!
