Finding a connection with anyone is one of my passions.  To have that feeling of "wow that person really gets me", is priceless, in my mind.  I enjoy having the conversation, the laughs, and the learning process with someone I never knew I had such a connection with.  The person I am speaking of is my amica italiana, Laura. 

I met Laura through the Language Tandem website.  How lucky was I when I received an email informing me:

"I would want to learn better to conversate in English."

We started chatting on MSN in December 07 and even talked once on Skype.  We were both curious about each other so we kept chatting in English and Italian.  She says things to me, not even my closest friends have said to me.  Words, phrases, that mean the world to me and hearing these words, I know this is a special person in my life. 

The connection is so strong that I feel as if we have known each other for many years.  She has a way of saying the things I think about but don't say out loud as much.  I truly can't wait to meet her in a week when I arrive back in Firenze.  There is going to be a reunion of sorts that (in another time and space) perhaps we have met before.  I shall enjoy our conversations, our laughs, and our learning process in becoming bilingual. 

I am nervous (speaking wise) as is she, but I told her we must be nervous together and then all the worries will fade because in the end isn't it all about the connection?  I believe that to be the soul purpose of why I must spend a good amount of my time with my friend Laura.
