My favorite Italian words and phrases
I am piggybacking off of Joe at Italyville in this topic. I have become obsessed in learning the language(well I guess keeping up with it) since I arrived back home in September. I have practicing with a few friends whom I met on Language Tandem website and have been getting better and better.
First and foremost...
The first sentence I learned in Fiesole (where I studied) was from a friendly bartender named Marco. I always came to J.J. Hill Irish Pub with the same order.
I would like a glass of red wine, please.
Marco, knowing I was a student, wanted me to learn how to say this sentence. So twas done...
"Vorrei un bicchiere di vino rosso, per favore."
I never forgot that sentence after that one lesson.
During my classe di lingua at Giorgio La Pira, I grew accustom to this word, sfida.
"che sfida" it means what a challenge. I thought throughout my 9 mos in Firenze was a challenge on top of yet another challenge. It was fun to say.
When playing with Carolina e Maria, I would go back and forth to Italian and English with them at first. But I loved saying
Cosa vuoi? What do you want?
Come vuoi? How would you like it?
Perche piangi? Why are you crying?
Sono stupida! I am stupid
Poi....then
Allora....Then, and, ok...
Eccoci, eccomi, eccola... here we are, here I am, here she is
Che c'e? Who is there?
DAI.... COME ON!
Baccala, It means Cod....it is very fun to say
BASTA COSI!!!....That is enough, very forceful. My friend Emily would say that to her fidanzato Simone a lot. I loved the way it sounded, even if they were arguing.
Wow there are a lot words I like to say. What about you Italian speakers out there? What are your favorite things to say?
a presto amici, Buon Weekend!!!
